February 8, 2023
7-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady has officially called it quits.
About two weeks after the Buccaneers’ Wild Card loss to the Dallas Cowboys, Brady, who won Super Bowl LV with Tampa Bay, announced his retirement in an Instagram post. He was drafted by the New England Patriots in the 6th round of the 2000 NFL Draft. During a regular season game, early in the 2001 season, Patriots starting quarterback Drew Bledsow suffered a near fatal injury due to a brutal hit. Brady took over after this injury for the rest of the 2001 season. Brady would go on to play 23 seasons in the NFL and become the most accomplished quarterback to ever play the game, becoming top 5 in every passing statistic and winning 7 super bowls. Brady initially announced his retirement back in February 2022 but came out of retirement a month later.
