The NFL is officially back as we have begun week 5 of the season! A lot of surprising things have happened like new rookie talents emerging, big upsets, teams on the uprise and teams on the downfall. Today we are going to go through a recap of Thursday Night Football between the Rams and the 49ers.
The 49ers upset the Rams in a divisional battle on Thursday night. While they were 3-1, the 49ers are coming off having lost to the Jaguars and the Rams are coming off a nail biting game against the Colts. The 49ers were very banged up as major injuries came from Brock Purdy, Juwan Jennings, and Ricky Pearsall being out, Brandon Aiyuk being decommissioned since last season and Nick Bosa’s season ending injury. The Rams were at home, but despite the injuries it looked more of an away game as a sea of red fans with 49ers jerseys were in Los Angeles.
The 49ers were up most of the game having a 14-0 lead but the Rams slowly came back scoring a touchdown in the 4th quarter making it 20-20, But tragedy struck and they missed the extra point for the potential game winner. Overtime, the 49ers started with the ball and drove and settled for a field goal as the Rams got the ball running out the clock until there was 16 seconds left at the 1 yard line. It was 4th down and for the game Alfred Collins came in clutch with a forced fumble to save the 49ers and increase their record being now 4-1 and being tied with the Seahawks in their division.
The Rams fall down to 3-2 and are now third in the division and this statement win from the 49ers can have a impact on the view of the rest of the season for them.
