In late September, Carmel mayor Sue Finkam sent an email alleging multiple members of city council had harassed city employees and strongly suggested the entire council take harassment prevention training.
When asked to address the situation Finkam stated she and the council have “vastly different roles” and reminded councilors to not overstep their boundaries. Some councilors spoke on the situation and said it was “manufactured drama” and the relationship between Finkam and the council was “very bad right now.”
Councilman Snyder was a topic addressed in the email when he referred to a female employee as “all dolled up” for a television interview. Finkam’s email said these actions contribute to a hostile work environment and must immediately stop. Despite the recent tensions, the council and mayor both hope to repair the relationship.
