CARMEL IN – September 26, 2025
The Carmel Greyhounds close out this home season going 5-0 with their most recent dominant victory 42-7 against Warren Central, setting a new standard for Carmel football.
On a cool Friday night at Carmel Stadium, under the roar of thousands of hometown fans, the Greyhounds didn’t just win but they proved who they are once again.
With a prevailing 42-7 victory over Warren Central, the Greyhounds closed out their home schedule undefeated, cementing one of the most emotional and meaningful wins in recent program history. This wasn’t just another game, it was the culmination of years of struggle and belief.
A story of redemption.
Not long ago Carmel football was fighting to recover their identity. Once a powerhouse program with a history of deep playoff runs, the Greyhounds entered seasons of heartbreak and rebuilding.
But this year, everything changed. Under Head Coach Kevin Wright the Greyhounds have reignited the fire that once made Carmel a statewide powerhouse. Wright is a familiar face; he drove the team at Carmel from 2010 to 2014, where he led the Greyhounds to a state title in 2011 and runner-up finishes in 2013 and 2014. He also ran six highly successful seasons at Warren Central.
Coach Wright described the mashup against his former team as “bittersweet” and noted that Greyhounds have been focused all season on controlling the game through their dominant ground game and disciplined play.
The game that defined the season.
From the first snap, Carmel played with purpose and intensity. Quarterback Anthony Coellner led a crisp offensive attack, throwing for multiple touchdowns before halftime. The defense held Warren Central to a single score all night.
Junior defensive end Drew Jones was a force under the lights, recording 2 sacks and 8 tackles, setting the tone for Carmel’s relentless pressure on the quarterback. After the game, Jones told CHTV, ”We’ve worked all season for moments like this, every down, every hit. It’s about proving that Carmel football is back – we take pride in protecting this field and resetting the standard of Carmel football.”
By half time Carmel led 42-7. The stands exploded with energy, the band’s drumline echoing through the cool October air and you could feel that something special was happening that night. When the final whistle blew, Carmel had secured a 42-7 victory protecting their perfect home record and sending a message. The Greyhounds are back.
Home field fortress.
This season, Greyhound Stadium became more than turf and stands, it became a symbol. Carmel hasn’t lost a single home game in 2025, turning their field into a fortress of tradition, teamwork and belief in one another.
This victory wasn’t just about football, it was about a community finding its spark again. From the pep rallies to the packed stands the city of Carmel rallied behind its team like never before now with an undefeated home record and a 7-1 overall season. Carmel’s sites are set on Lucas Oil Stadium, the stage where Legends are made.
Carmel isn’t just chasing a championship, they’re chasing redemption and on this night under the glow of the stadium lights that dream is closer and more achievable than ever. Stay tuned to watch the Greyhounds take home their 10th state championship.
