This past Friday, September 20th, Carmel High School’s House of Representatives put on a tailgate that raised money for Riley Children’s Hospital. The tailgate started at 5:30 and went until 7:00. Tickets costed $5 and included hotdogs, Jimmy Johns, candy, a photo op, face painting, spike ball and even a dunk tank where students could soak fellow classmates and teachers. House of Representatives is a club at Carmel High School for all grades that spends the whole year fundraising for kids in need. The tailgate happened just before the big homecoming football game which featured the Carmel Greyhounds versus the Brebeuf Braves. House members showed out to the tailgate by bringing friends and taking photos with their blue and gold spirit wear. Speaker of the House, Nina Federici spoke about the event stating, “It went really well. We made a lot of improvements from last year with new activities and food like Jimmy Johns. It was truly a great way to start Homecoming.” I also asked house member Rachel Wolfangel her thoughts about the tailgate and she said, “I thought the tailgate was super fun, there was a lot of Carmel spirit, and I liked the dunk tank the most.” The tailgate was a huge success and a great way to raise money and awareness for this cause.
