CARMEL, IN – Early voting for the 2024 election is in full swing in Carmel. Many people choose early voting as a way to still make their voice heard even if they won’t have time to hit the polls on November 5th, Election Day. Because of the 6am-6pm time frame, some voters with long work or school hours cannot make it on that Tuesday. Early voting provides flexibility. Another benefit can be avoiding the lines. Sometimes on Election Day, lines at polling places can take hours to get through. By voting early, you can avoid the crowds. A lot of people also see early voting as a stress reliever. Instead of leaving your decision up to the last minute, you can research candidates ahead of time and go to the polls ready to fill out your ballot. By providing more opportunities to vote, there is increased participation, which contributes to our democracy as a whole.
Many key positions are up for election such as President, Senate, House of Representatives, Governor, and School Board.
If you would like to vote early, any registered voter in Indiana can vote early in-person. All you need to bring is your ID. In Carmel, early voting is open for the last week of October at locations including the Carmel Clay Public Library, Founders Park, and West Park. For more information on your own registration status, you can visit your Voter Portal at https://indianavoters.in.gov/.
