With the wrestling season starting from scratch, the team is looking more energetic than ever. Carmel High School’s wrestling team, the Greyhounds, has long been a powerhouse in Indiana’s wrestling scene. With multiple state championships under their belt, the team’s dedication and discipline, and teamwork has been critical in their success. Led by Coach Ed Penoski, the Greyhounds have produced numerous individual state champions and All-Americans. They were also Indiana State Champions (2022), Runner-up at the state tournament (2023), and won multiple individual state titles for separate weight classes, as seen wth Carlo Federici and Harrison Grant. Yours truly, Prithvi Srivatsa, interviewed Harrison Grant about his considerations before joining wrestling. He said “It honestly was a fluke. I started my freshman year (last year) and it honestly helped me become a better person and let out anger in a controlled manner, hence why I joined. So I would say it was a tough, but correct decision for me, personally.” For the upcoming season, a strong returning lineup and talented freshman arrive as seniors give one last shot at glory. The Greyhounds are poised for another successful season, so catch them in action at their home/away matches, with the first one being away at Warren Central on 11/19.
