The first year of the 12 team Playoff is here and has already brought plenty of story lines!
Alabama missed out on the playoff after going 9-3 and was replaced by SMU. Plenty of people argued for them to be in, but a team who loses to 6-6 Oklahoma and 6-6 Vanderbilt does not deserve to be in the playoff. SMU will now play at Penn St, where the winner faces Boise st in the fiesta bowl.Oregon, Georgia, Boise st, and Arizona st are the top 4 seeds in that order as they won their conference championship game and got a first round bye. I think the committee needs to get rid of this, and just seed the teams on how they want. For example No.16 Clemson went 9-3 in the regular season but won the ACC championship so they automatically get in at No.12. Without this rule I think Miami would’ve gotten in over them. Clemson now plays at No.5 Texas. The winner will play at Arizona st in the peach bowl. Tennessee plays in Columbus where buckeyes HC Ryan Day may be coaching for his job. The winner plays Oregon in the Rose Bowl. In-state rivals Indiana and Notre Dame will play in south bend where the winner plays Georgia in the Sugar. As a fan I am very excited to get to see 11 playoff games for the first time. A complete list of all other bowl games below and dates below.
