FINAL: Heading into Tuesday’s December 6th contest on the road at Westfield, the Carmel Girls Varsity Basketball team was desperate to not only get a win against a hated rival, but also their first win of the season. The Lady Greyhounds did just that, winning 43-33 against a talented Shamrock squad and moving to 1-9 on the season. After the Greyhounds fell behind 5-0 just a minute into the first quarter, it was looking like another loss, but a dominant 15-0 run to end the half gave them the 10-point lead at the start of the third quarter. From there, it was smooth sailing the rest of the way, as Carmel was able to successfully close out the game despite a late surge from Westfield. Senior Hannah Lach and Sophomore Rilee McBride led the way for the Greyhounds with 10 points each, while Sophomores Taryn Fisher and Mallory Bourquein each had 9 and 8 points, respectively. Moving forward, Carmel will look to get a win streak going as they face off against the 7-3 Fort Wayne Snider Panthers on the road on Saturday, December 10th, so be sure to show out and give your support. Go Hounds!
