While some students think Officer Rogowski takes the summers off like the rest of the students, that couldn’t be any further from the truth.
On August 25th in room C141, my classmates and I had the opportunity to interview and get to know our Student Resource Officer, Officer Rogowski. During this interview we found just how busy life gets as an SRO in the summer.
Rogowski goes on to say “Life is a lot more chaotic over the summer.” and walks us through his 2025 summer schedule.
With about two weeks off (One in June and one in July) Rogowski spends most of his time giving back to the community through teaching at the Youth and Teen Police Academies local in Carmel. At these schools, kids are taught all about policing and are taken through courses like K9 training, traffic stops, a jail tour, and much more, says Rogowski. He also takes lots of training and refresher courses for handling situations such as active shootings, bombings, and much more.
When he is not working, he likes to hang out with his son and wife as well as his dog Fiona.
This is what your SRO officer Rogowski does while students get their summers off. So if you see your SRO Officer over the summer, make sure to say Hello! As Rogowski says, “We are like a cactus, scary on the outside, mushy on the inside”.
