The Banner Is Back

As high school football season kicks back off, students across the country get dressed up in various themes for the Friday Night Lights, but for students at Carmel High School, the stakes are a little higher. Every year, students across Indiana compete for the Wish-TV Zone 8 banner, the award that goes to the schools with the most spirited students. Schools can win in three different categories: School Spirit, Zone Madness, and Social Media (visit www.wishtv.com to learn more).

The last time CHS students won one of these titles was back in 2017, so students are ready to finally take back the title. Hundreds, sometimes thousands, of students pour out to show their creativity and dedication, going all out for themes like tropical, country, and USA (even going as far as to paint their bodies). You can catch the spirited students and highlights from the games featured on Wish-TV at 11 p.m. (ET) on Fridays. Carmel students can also learn more about the upcoming themes by visiting @carmelhighschoolofficial on Instagram.

About the Contributor
Ice Diatta
Ice Diatta, Social Media Manager
Aissatou Diatta is a junior at Carmel High School, however many people call her Ice for short. She works as Carmel Television’s social media manager alongside Ava Luo. She is knowledgeable in and loves editing with Adobe Premiere Pro and Final Cut, and is expanding her skills with Adobe After Effects. After school (when she’s not grabbing b-roll or helping broadcast games), she likes staying active and plays rugby for the high school’s girl's team. She also likes reading, painting (although she’s not very good at it), building things, and listening to music. She is a part of the production class where she will continue to help create video packages, broadcast sports, and manage the social media accounts.
