Carmel, IN – Carmel High School’s very own student-run television station, CHTV, recently brought home an impressive slate of awards from both the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) conference in New York City and the Indiana Association of School Broadcasters (IASB) conference at Butler University, recognizing the program’s excellence in news, sports, graphics, and on‑air talent.
At IBS, CHTV had an impressive turnout, earning Best Newscast for “CHTV Morning News,” Best Comedy Program for “CHTV Showdown,” and Best News Report for “Kaplan’s Catch-Up.” The station also won Best Talk Program for “Kaplan’s Corner,” Best Promotional Spot for the “CHTV Image Promo,” Best Use of Graphics for the “CHTV Show Open,” and Best Commercial/Promotion for “Big Dreams.” Individual leadership was honored with Abigail Bonacker named Best Student Station Manager (TV) and Livi Cosner recognized as Best News Director (TV).
A few weeks later at IASB, Carmel High School was named Runner‑Up for both Emerging Media of the Year and Sports School of the Year among more than 850 statewide entries. The CHTV Sports Staff earned honors in multiple Video Live Sports categories, and students received awards and honorable mentions for Branded Hype Video, Social Media Presence, Student Media Website, Video Show Open, Video Magazine, Motion Graphics, and School Newscast.
