The Players Championship is an upcoming golf tournament that will start on March 10th which is the first practice round. The players championship has an extremely rich history dating all the way back to 1974. Jack Nicklaus won this first event shooting a score of 16 under par. The tournament has been played at TPC sawgrass since 1982. TPC sawgrass is known very much for its unique terrain, challenging greens, and many hazards. The man that is favored to win this tournament is Scottie Scheffler, this is because of his great ball striking driving and speed control around these challenging greens. Although he may be favored, many people think Rory McIlroy will win this event again as he won in 2025 shooting 12 under. McIlroy went into playoff holes with JJ Spaun. Saturday’s round has already sold out showing the magnitude that this event has for some great golf to be displayed. This event will have a lot of influence on whether players will retain their cards or not for the next couple seasons. Some of the players people are most excited to watch on this course are Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth, Tommy Fleetwood, and Justin Rose. Not long after this event the golf season will be in full swing. This means majors will be coming up like the masters and US open. Although the players’ championship may not seem great compared to majors, an event like this still holds great energy and history and is very important to the players.
