From the ripe old time of 8pm, girls and guys alike, dressed in only their best and cleanest attire, moved in droves and couples from the parking lot to the entryway of the 502 East Event Center all on a mission: To have their first, and last, Senior Prom Nights.
Event center staff in pitch black suits guarded the entryway with breathalyzer tests held up like microphones for an interview of every goer as they walked in for their special night. Inside, past the ticket booths and the Candyland-themed walkway was a large room packed with tables, booming with music, and people dressed in all sorts of shapes, sparkles and colors. Tables were claimed with jackets and purses left behind for the appeals of exploring and networking. Confections, fruit cups and sodas lined the sides of the room, while people were lining up for the Italian ice and popcorn machines on the left.
The DJ was blasting the infamous “Macarena” and “California Girls” yet again, with some new songs from Bad Bunny’s halftime show in the mix. Friends were yelling at each other over the music as couples snuggled before yelling as communication was nigh impossible, as the DJ was considerate enough to turn up the music as more people came inside and couldn’t hear it loud enough. And the people agreed; You could never party loud enough – The mass of dancers swarming in the middle of the room only grew as the night went on, with people jumping to the beat for every song. Circles of partiers formed in the middle of the warzone to make way for intense dance-offs, limbo, fake proposals and even conga lines.
The dancing continued for hours until one by one, groups of people made their ways out of the event center and into carpools for the afterparty. At Woodland Bowl, people finally found room to talk colloquially, with less people blocking access to the confectionaries than before. Friends sat on couches with soda and skittles, and caught up on old business, before leaving the afterparty satisfied from having made the most of their nights.
Take your finals easy this month, Greyhounds!
Don’t forget to make the most of your final moments, Seniors!
