The Russian-Ukraine War. A topic that has been discussed since February 2022 when Russia launched a globally reported invasion of Ukraine. The month of August saw one of Russia’s largest drone attacks on the Ukraine city of Kyiv. The damage was indescribable, and in September, Russia said that it wanted to attack Ukraine with 1,000 drones per day before the end of the year.
Also in August, the U.S. said that they would no longer send troops to Ukraine, nor supply Ukraine with weapons. This led to Ukraine having to purchase millions of dollars worth of weapons from the U.S. However, NATO countries (besides the U.S.) were able to supply Ukraine with some money to help them in these future purchasing endeavors.
At the end of September, Poland had to launch planes because Russian drones went into its airspace while they were attacking Ukraine. Then at the very beginning of October, Zaporizhzhia (zuh-paw-ree-zhee-uh), Europe’s largest powerplant in Ukraine, lost power and if it wasn’t fixed in the next 10 days, Ukraine could have suffered another Chernobyl.
The US is still trying to push for peace between the two countries, but from both Russia and Ukraine, that didn’t seem like it would happen for a long time.
