Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a double-edged sword, offering remarkable benefits and significant challenges. On the positive side, AI has the potential to revolutionize industries, improve efficiency, and enhance our daily lives. For instance, Ai-powered healthcare can lead to early diagnosis and personalized treatment plans, while AI in education can provide tailored learning experiences for students. However, the rise of AI also brings about several concerns. One of the primary issues is potential loss of jobs due to AI, which can lead to economic and social instability. Additionally, there are ethical concerns regarding privacy, data security, and the potential misuse of AI technologies. Furthermore, AI could encourage cheating in academic and professional settings, as it can be used to generate content that appears to be original work, undermining the overall integrity of any assessments and evaluations. According to Arianna Prothero, a reporter for Education Week, with a degree in political science from Indiana University, ¨Of the more than 200 million writing assignments reviewed by Turnitin’s AI detection tool over the past year, some AI use was detected in about 1 out of 10 assignments, while only 3 out of every 100 assignments were generated mostly by AI¨(Prothero). Prothero is able to use quantitative data to show the cons of AI, showing how AI is causing an increase in cheating from students. In conclusion, while AI holds the promise of significant advancements and improvements it is crucial to not abuse and misuse it.
