Carmel Girls Wrestling is vastly improving everyday, and much of this progress is thanks to our new Coach Baxter and the strong team we’ve built. This year marks an exciting new milestone for Girls wrestling as they have officially become a sanctioned sport by the IHSAA. IHSAA provides female athletes with even more of an opportunity to showcase the skills they’ve developed during each practice. Our team’s success this season wouldn’t be possible without Coach Baxter’s immense dedication and support. Beyond the physical training, he prioritizes our well-being both on and off the mat, ensuring our health and safety come first. His relentless motivation and encouragement inspire us to push our limits and grow stronger. We are all incredibly grateful to have a coach we can count on to show up and guide us. Throughout the season, I’ve had the opportunity to meet many amazing wrestlers at various levels during meets and tournaments. One of the most satisfying moments is when techniques Coach drills into us during practice finally come together in a match. At the time, it might feel repetitive or even unnecessary, but when it all comes together in the heat of competitions and you warm that victory, the feeling is truly indescribable. Looking ahead, I’m excited to see our program expand as more girls discover a passion for wrestling and join the team. With the growing recognition of Girls wrestling, we’re not only setting the foundation for our team’s growth but also paving the way for a future of female wrestlers. Being part of a growing sport like wrestling is an incredible experience.
