My beat was on DC Comics and I covered news mainly on their movies. Over the past few months, I have covered how James Gunns and Peter Safran have become co-chairmen and co-CEOs of DC Studios. The two are now in charge of DC Studios and they plan on rebooting the current DC Universe. The last two films of the old DC Universe are Blue Beetle and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Blue Beetle was released on August 18, 2023, and made $26 million during its opening weekend. Over the course of its theatrical release, it made $129 million worldwide however it was the lowest-grossing DCEU movie with a budget of $104 million. I also started to cover Aquaman 2 when its teaser was released online on September 10, 2023. The film was delayed by two days from December 20 to December 22. The film’s run time has also been leaked with it reportedly coming in at 2 hours and 4 minutes. The film is set to star Jason Momoa, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Patrick Wilson, and Amber Heard. There is controversy over the film due to Heard’s involvement but reportedly her role has been diminished in the film. Other news I have covered is the development of The Batman 2 and Superman: Legacy. The Batman 2 is set to be released on October 3, 2025, and the film’s development was put on hold due to the writers strike but has but is now back on schedule. The same goes for Superman: Legacy with the film’s development being put on hold but development has started up once more.
